What your child learns

The skills every Gymnasium Preparation group works on, whichever subject fills the session.

  • Academic confidence
  • Strong study habits
  • Working accurately under time pressure
  • Reading a question properly before answering it
  • Written German for the Aufsatz
  • Mathematics the exam actually asks for

Inside the Gymnasium Preparation programme

Mathematics
The arithmetic made automatic first, then the question types the exam really sets, and a method for the ones it invents. Worked every week against real past papers rather than a textbook.
German
Both papers the exam sets: Textverständnis, where a child reads closely and answers on grammar, structure and meaning; and Aufsatz, where they write to time. Every piece is marked by hand and returned with a correction they can use.
Exam techniques
How to read a paper, where the marks actually are, what to do when a question looks unfamiliar, and when to move on. The part that is rarely taught and often decides the result.
Study skills
Planning revision across months rather than the week before, keeping notes that are worth rereading, and the habits that carry into Gymnasium itself.
Mock examinations
Sat under real conditions, marked properly, and returned with an honest read on where your child stands. The point is that the real day is not the first time it has felt like this.

One-to-one, if that suits your child better

Some children need the group; some need a teacher to themselves. Gymivorbereitung is also available privately, by the hour, and semi-privately for two to four children — the rates are in the brochure.

What a term looks like

Fourteen sessions of two hours with the same teacher and the same eight children, ending with a mock examination and an honest written assessment.

Sessions 1 to 2

Placement

Where your child actually is in Mathematik and Deutsch. The group is set from this, not from school year.

Sessions 3 to 9

The three papers

Textverständnis, Aufsatz and Mathematik in rotation, each week against real past papers, each piece marked by hand.

Sessions 10 to 12

Technique

Timing, question order, and what to do when a paper springs something new. Practised until it is a habit.

Sessions 13 to 14

Mock and report

A full mock under real conditions, then a written assessment telling you plainly where your child stands.

Children develop:

  • Academic Confidence
  • Study Habits
  • Exam Technique
  • Written German
  • Mathematical Fluency
  • Composure

What we do not promise

A place at the Gymnasium. Nobody can promise that, and a centre that does is telling you something else about itself.

What we promise is a qualified teacher for each paper, groups of eight, marked work every week, and an honest read on where your child stands — including when the honest answer is that another year would serve them better.

The Swiss NewEra approach

Digital well-being & human development

This runs through all four pathways, rather than being another subject you have to choose. There is nothing extra to add to the basket and nothing extra to pay.
